Limenaria to Aeolis Thassos Palace

Limenaria started developing in the beginning of the 20th century, when the mining operations began. The establishments of the offices, known as ‘the small palace’, which were used as the central offices of a German extraction company, show great architectural interest, as they constitute a representative sample of the 20th century architecture. Limenaria are 10km far from the hotel.

Alikes to Aeolis Thassos Palace

Aliki is 12km far from the hotel. In Aliki it is quite easy to discern traces from marble volumes subtracted from rock surfaces during ancient times.

Theologos to Aeolis Thassos Palace

Theologos, the oldest village of the island, is 15km far from AEOLIS hotel. During the Byzantine period it was the capital of the island. It is built in a traditional style and definitely worth paying a visit!

Monastery of Archangelos to Aeolis Thassos Palace

In a location of unique beauty, Archangel Michael Holy Monastery is 7km far from the hotel. In the monastery there is a piece of the Honest Spike kept, which is part of the nails used for Jesus Crucifixion.

Athletic Activities

AERIA & AEOLIS hotels along with the organisational group MTB THASSOS, organize the THASSOS THEAGENIOS RUN in the beginning of spring, which is a 100 & 50km race around the island of Thassos and the national road. The purpose of the run is through the physical and mental testing of the participants, to honour the ancient athlete and twice Olympic winner Theagenes of Thassos.

In the summer, the Greek social life starts with peaceful mornings, followed by a short rest, so most people visit the beaches. Late in the afternoon, when the weather gets cooler, the Greeks start enlivening the port with their long walks, meeting friends and exchanging the latest news. Bed time is usually transferred to the morning hours of the next day.

In the very popular ‘tavernas’ you may order a variety of dishes from international and local cuisine. The latter includes all kinds of meat and fish barbecued, fried calamari and mussels, octopuses dried in the sun, several kinds of fresh fish, as well as a variety of salads. The meals can be accompanied with ouzo or local wine. The morphology of the island’s ground, its lush forests and, of course, the sea create ideal conditions for summer holidays, relaxation and resting. For this reason, the island has been characteristically named, such as “Cloudless”, obviously due to its clear blue sky, “Charming” and “Sweet” for the pleasures it offers generously to its visitors, “Golden” for the abundance of its products, and finally “Airy” for its clean and cool breeze.
